Slimming World Robbed Me Out of 135 Big Macs!

So good…but so bad!
I’m still in shock! Last night in my slimming world class, we’re all sitting in the semi circle listening to Lesley our leader and she looks at me and says, “oh Darran, I’ve got to own up to something!” I was slightly confused and intrigued, to say the least; she went on to say that slimming world changed a long time back and didn’t know that men (depending on starting weight) got more daily syns than women, so all this time I’d been missing out! What the hell!
After class, I went to find out what the numbers were, and it turns out I was meant to be having 25 syns a day, not 15!
A massive difference, don’t you think?
It was only a couple of months back when I celebrated my 1 year lifestyle change milestone, and me being me (looking into things too much!) worked out that over the course of the past year, I’ve be cheated out of 3,650 syns.
In food that looks some like this;
- 280 x Mars Bars (standard 58g)
- 405 x Creme Eggs
- 405 x Slices of Medium Pan Meat Feast Pizza Hut Pizza
- 135 x McDonalds Big Macs
You get the idea, and I’m sure by now your sensing I’m feeling a little cheated, and you’d be right, I’m not overreacting am I?
Ok ok, all that said and done, not having the extra 10 syn’s probably did me a favour; I mean if had eaten all that pizza for instance (over time of course) that would be 9.65lbs of PURE FAT! That’s extra fat I would have needed to burn off through exercise! (405 x 10.8g = 4374g)
That’s a real eye opener when you think about it like that, isn’t it?
My syn’s allowance would most likely have gone down as I lost weight, but don’t quote me on that though. I didn’t really want to delve too deep into the subject, and find out what I’ve been missing out on.
I think the moral of this little story is you have syns for things you like to eat, but you don’t have to eat them all every single day. Your probably thinking “But Darran, you preach cheat meals, why are you now saying don’t eat all your syns“.
I’m not saying don’t eat all your syn’s, hell I love syn’s, and I doubly love my weekly cheat meal! I’m just saying if it comes to 8/9pm and you haven’t had all your syns don’t force yourself to have them just because their there; that makes sense, right?
The bottom line is moderation; if you have moderation, a simple, realistic and sustainable lifestyle will follow naturally.
How many of your syns do you eat, and more importantly what do you spend them on? Let me know in the comments below.
